The 66th Commencement Ceremony was held at 10 p.m., Saturday, May 21, at NRG Arena. Congratulations to every UST graduate!
The Commencement speaker Greg Abbott, governor of Texas, speaks on the topic “Our lives are not defined by the challenges we face, but how we respond to those challenges.”
Dr. Robert Ivany, UST president, said the University is privileged to welcome the governor of Texas as graduation speaker.
Vladimir Davidiuk, senior political science major, is the student commencement speaker.
He is co-founder and former vice president of the 2nd Start club, a networking and leadership development club for non-traditional students.
He is president of Pi Sigma Alpha, the political science honor society and chair of the College Republicans. He is assistant captain and one of the leading attorneys of the 2014-2015 Fighting Celts Mock Trial team, and he is a three-term senator in the Student Government Association. He also writes for campus publications The Summa and Thoroughfare, and he is a periodic contributor to Houston Public Media’s “Houston Matters” show.
